Food Safety
In order to maintain Australia’s excellent record for product safety, SAFEMEAT is the food safety partnership between the red meat industry and the government. The main objective is to ensure that safety and hygiene standards are practiced and maintained in the red meat industry.
The red meat industry’s commitment to food safety continues beyond the farm gate, with a unique set of industry quality assurance programs covering livestock transport, feedlots and sale yards.
The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) is involved in the processing stage of red meat to provide regulations and residue testing. Using science, AQIS ensures Australia maintains its quality assurance and Food safety record
